Channel Islands Harbor offers plenty of activities to do. Sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and other water activities are available. Housed in the historic 1906 building, Carnegie Art Museum features twentieth century artwork of California. The major exhibitions and collections span from California contemporary art and regional art to the traditional art. In addition to its special and traveling exhibitions, the museum also houses permanent collection of more than 1,500 works of art. More than 600 are prints, paintings, photographs and drawings by the twentieth century artists of California.

For waterfront fun, make your way over to the Marine Emporium Landing. It offers plenty of waterfront activities, walking paths, sportfishing, kayaking, jet skiing, dive trips, and much more. If you’ve kids ages 2-12 with you, make your way over to the Gull Wings Children’s Museum. The museum features multimedia presentations and hands-on exhibits on history, art, science and music. Some of the programs for kiddies are nature walks, marine life talks, story time, and more. Highlights include the Home Town Hero exhibit that let the kids play firefighters, the Blass Off exhibit where children can pretend to be astronauts and walk on the moon, and the Lego-a-Go-Go room where kids can engage in building immobile plastic bricks.

Located in the Oxnard’s historic district, Heritage Square features an amazing collection of restored Victorian homes and craftsman houses that were once owned by the pioneer families of Oxnard. It boasts several early-twentieth century houses. Inside the heritage square, there are beautiful homes and mansions, stunning gardens, a storehouse, church, a pump house and several businesses, including restaurants, wine tastings, gift shop and a visitor center. Also, tours are available and docents are dressed in period clothing illustrating life in the Victorian era and take you through the area’s history.

Explore the history of American automobiles at Murphy Auto Museum!

Murphy Auto Museum features vintage American automobiles spanning from 1903 to present. It houses more than 90 classic and vintage vehicles. The museum boasts classic American automobiles, including Dodge Charger R/T, Lincoln Continental Mark II, Ford Model T pickup, model railroad stretching over 1,800 sq ft, and several period cars. Plus, there are vintage clothing featured. Women’s and Men’s fashions are featured on mannequins placed near to the car of the same era. Displays also include personal memorabilia, biographies and photographs.  Cars rotate continuously, with fresh cars on display all the time.

Travel into Maritime history at Channel Islands Maritime Museum!

Channel Islands Maritime Museum features a vast collection of models of historic ships along world-class marine art and marine exhibits. It has several antique ship models, about 72 original paintings spanning from seventeenth to nineteenth century, and an array of rotating exhibits. Exhibits accommodate old as well as young visitors. Highlights include marble ship models, war bone models, ships in bottles, and much more.

Located in downtown Oxnard, Woolworth Museum is the only museum in the country that pays homage to the original Woolworth Store.
